The Saga of Sha'Mung, a new fantasy series by Bobbi Duffy debuts with MAGIC PR0PHECY
After the Race Wars, it is prophesied that three Reconcilers would be arise who would reunite the three races. According to the prophecy, Zymal, the last dragon born, would awaken a dragon mage named Edgwyn. Then together, with the help of a warrior, they would forge a new bond between the three races, which would last until the end of time. Dragon Magic is the account of the fulfillment of the prophecy.
In an effort to keep Edgwyn from harm, Wynet, the greatest living dragon mage, magically shields the baby boy. The old mage has good cause for concern. Edgwyn's mother and father, both dragon mages of great power, had been hunted down and murdered because of their magic. To ensure Edgwyn's survival, the mage goes even further with his protections; he shields Edgwyn from his own magic. Then he takes the child and disappears into the farthest corner of the land to live in obscurity as a mage healer.
Wynet's plan works until Edgwyn reaches manhood. When Wynet and Edgwyn are both attacked by blood magic unexpectedly, the old mage orders Edgwyn to leave Tregla and find his old friend, Mykal, who lives in Sylan, a country to the west. Edgwyn's adopted sister, Amara, a member of the elite mercenary troop, the Light Riders, agrees to protect Edgwyn on the journey.
At Mykal's, Edgwyn learns the truth of his heritage and is given a crash course in magic, but the greatest surprise for the young healer is that he, like Wynet, his great grandfather, is a dragon mage with the ability to transform into dragon shape at will.
Edgwyn and Amara set out from Mykal's to find Zymal. On the journey to the Dragon Mountains, the two must survive harsh winter weather, bandits and potential assassins. The greatest potential for danger, however, comes as they enter the Clan Lands where strangers are not welcome and often never seen again.
After delivering Edgwyn to the dragons, Amara begins her return journey. It, too, filled with adventure. Along the way she meets Hooh, a Paladin, who is seeking sanctuary for his race. When she reaches her grandparents' inn, she finds herself surrounded by family, some of whom don't have her best interests at heart. Assassins dog her steps as she tries to reach Crez, the capital city of Tregla.
Edgwyn has his own problems. Now that Wynet has laid the foundation for the fulfillment of the Prophecy of Reconciliation, it is the young mage's responsibility to reconcile the three races, and reclaim the Wasteland, an area created by the cataclysm that ended the Race Wars three hundred years earlier.
However, there are those who want him to fail and are willing to murder to accomplish their aims. As Edgwyn and Amara find out hatred is passed down from generation to generation and eventually develops a life of its own.
